Benefits of joining a Martial Arts program and FAQ
Role Model Development
Students in our program develop social skills with other students who are interested in achieving the same goals. Since parents are concerned about role models, you can be assured that all students at Eaves Karate are encouraged and supported by their parents as well. You’ll be happy to know that our instructors maintain a strict code of ethics and set exemplary behavior themselves.
Academic Development
Students’ academic progress is monitored at Eaves Karate. We work closely with all school systems and parents in an effort to help students achieve better grades.
Personal Development
By placing students in the right environment, their true potential can be realized. Our belt promotion curriculum combines goal orientation along with learning dynamics to help develop their character. Statistics show that people who feel good about themselves lead happy, healthier lives. This process happens repeatedly through belt promotions and recognition.
Character Development
Our students learn values and attributes related to strong moral character. Students learn discipline, courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control, and indomitable spirit - the tenets of TaeKwon-Do. We focus on the development of these qualities repetitively. Without question, students must learn these fundamental qualities early on in life in order to develop strong values.
Physical Development
This is a critical component to the development of any person. Strength, coordination, flexibility, and balance are just a few of the benefits people will achieve here.
Can you accommodate children with learning challenges?
Behavioral specialists, as well as child psychologists, agree that Martial Arts programs help the development of children with ADD or ADHD as well as other behavioral challenges. Because children are required to pay close attention to the program in order to comprehend, these learning challenges are met head on by ongoing training. Students who have these challenges perform extremely well because of their learning environment. The reason for this is the personalized attention that our students receive.
Is parental involvement necessary?
As a parent considering this program, the key element is your motivation. Unfortunately, children at a young age do not know what type of training they need. It is the parents’ responsibility to identify the child’s needs and engage them in the appropriate program or activity. Martial Arts training provides the edge in many areas of a child’s development. As a parent you will see your child blossom right in front of your eyes. Our program gives you the opportunity to watch your child learn and provide for your participation in the process. We feel this creates a learning bond between parents and children.
How large are the classes?
The average size of each class is 15-20 students.
Will there be other beginners in my class?
Yes.
Will the Eaves Karate program make my child overly aggressive?
At Eaves Karate children are taught that the Martial Arts are not to be used in aggression, but rather to defend oneself in problematic situations. Aggressive behavior is channeled into assertiveness to increase the child’s self-esteem, increase self-discipline, and build character. As our third student pledge states… ”I will use common sense before self-defense and never be abusive or offensive.”
Will my child have fun?
Martial Arts are good, clean fun for kids. It has been our understanding that parents want the lasting benefits of confidence, respect, self-esteem, and self-discipline that the Martial Arts offer. However, we do not want a struggle with the children when it is time to get ready for class. Motivation, excitement, and fun are the tools we use to increase the performance of our students. We also offer various school events for children, thus creating a sense of belonging and a spirit of teamwork. Not only do our students learn the most, but they have the most fun too!
Will my classes be safe?
Absolutely. All classes taught here are strictly monitored to ensure complete safety. Consequently, the chance of injury is very small.
